The Clatsop County Historical Society is an educational organization dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of Clatsop County Oregon and the surrounding area.
The Clatsop County Historical Society offers three distinctively different museums all housed in historic buildings for you and your family to explore during your visit to Astoria.
| Captain George Flavel House
Experience the luxury and elegance of the late Victorian period by touring the Captain George Flavel House. The 1885 Queen Anne Victorian home features original Eastlake style woodwork interiors, and exotic hardwood fireplaces with imported tile surrounds. Enjoy a walk through the parklike grounds and view many of the trees planted by the Flavel's over a century ago.
| Heritage Museum
Built in 1904, as Astoria's City Hall, this building now houses the Clatsop County Historical Society's regional museum and administrative offices and archives. Galleries feature changing and permanent exhibits about natural history, geology, industries & commerce, occupations & pastimes, and the people of this historically rich area.
| Uppertown Firefighters Museum
This museum houses an extensive collection of fire fighting equipment dating from 1879 to 1963. Featured are hand-pulled, horse-drawn, and motorized fire engines, as well as, fire fighting memorabilia and photos. A great favorite for kids of all ages! |
